The Small Joys tag

Hail and well met nerds, geeks, and dorks. August here. Today I’m doing the Small Joys tag. I was tagged by my friend, B. @I blog a little bit of everything.

The Rules

  1. Thank the blogger who tagged you
  2. List 15 of your small joys (they can be as weird, random and silly as you want to make them)
  3. Tag 5 blogger friends who bring you joy (and feel free to say why they bring you joy!) Have fun with it!

My Small Joys

1. Musicals

What can I say? I love it when people burst into song. Most of my main fandoms have a musical element to them at some point and it always makes me super happy listening to the songs.

2. Disney

This is definitely my largest joy overall, but I can’t talk about things that make me happy without mentioning Disney. Almost all of my favorite movies are Disney and a lot of my favorite shows are Disney.

3. The Two Princes podcast

I started listening to this a while ago and I am obsessed. The new season just came out yesterday and it’s so good!

4. High School Musical

If you’ve been reading my posts for a while, you’ll know that I love this entire franchise. I love drawing the characters and listening to the songs. It’s seriously one of my biggest fandoms.

5. Art

I love art. Painting, drawing, and writing are some of my favorite things to do.

6. Winnie the Pooh

Pooh Bear has been one of my favorite Disney characters for my whole life. He has brought so much joy to me that I had to mention him.

7. Kipo and the Age of Wonderbeasts

I started this show one night because I was bored and was instantly blown away by the story, worldbuilding, and animation. I could rant about this show for an entire post and probably will eventually.

8. Fantasy

I love fantasy books, movies, and basically any media with epic creatures, magic, and crazy worlds. from the modern fantasy world of Onward to the beast filled world of my family’s DND game.

9. Percy Jackson

These books sparked my love of writing, myths, and sarcastic main characters. The books are a huge thing in my family and I love the musical. I am super excited to see the show when it comes out.

10. Julie and the Phantoms

This was another series that I started when I was bored and ended up loving. The music is amazing and the characters are all well developed and unique. Again, I could rant about this and I will.

11. Flowers

I love flowers. From the huge gardens my neighbors have to the bright colored wildflowers in my backyard. They are one of my favorite things to photograph and draw.

12. The Adventure Zone

This podcast is super close to my heart. The characters helped me figure out my sexuality and they are so freaking talented.

13. Halloween

Halloween is by far my favorite holiday. I love the pumpkins, The decorations, and the music.

14. Dressing up

I felt like this deserves its own point. While Halloween is famous for costumes, there are so many other times for dressing up. I love cosplaying as my favorite characters and finding or making all of the parts.

15. My stories

It may sound weird, but my stories bring me so much joy. Creating characters, a world, and so much more is one of my favorite things to do. I love using my writing to bring joy to others.

So that was the tag! I’m supposed to tag five other bloggers, but I’m going to do this instead:

I tag any of my followers for this! You guys bring me more joy than most things on this list. I love reading your posts and your comments. You’re awesome.

I hope you guys enjoy. Leave a comment below, I’d love to talk to you! Remember, you’re going to be amazing. Look to the stars. Aim. Ignite!

Explaining my header/site icon

Hello nerds, geeks, and dorks. Elle here. After redoing my header and site icon, I thought it would be fun to explain all of the things I drew. So, without further ado, what the heck my header means!

So, the first things that catch my eye whenever I look at it are the wildcat symbols I originally had them just rainbow, but you couldn’t see the colors very well, so I dunked the inside black. The reason I put them on there is HSM has always been one of my favorite DCOMs, and HSMTMTS is one of my main fandoms at the moment.

Next is at the very center. My logo! A succulent, because I love them, rainbow glasses, because I have them in real life, music notes/headphones, because I’m constantly listening to music, a Hufflepuff scarf, my Hogwarts house, and the pansexual flag!

On either side of the text is a trident, a reference to Percy Jackson, another one of my main fandoms.

Now on to the really fun stuff. I really love the bookshelves. They have a ton of references and items that are special to me. Plus the books make a rainbow if you put them side by side. Let’s start on the left one!

First, there’s an inkwell. Inkwells are used to represent writing in tons of media, so I thought it would be cool to have one in here. Then I put a picture of a sunflower because they’re my favorite flower. Next is a tiny, really hard to draw, Hamilton poster thingy and my bucket of pencils. Then an owl, because I was obsessed with them for a while, and a plant because I love plants!

On to the right. Up first is the Bureau of Balance symbol. Then a flyer for the Hunters of Artemis, a Mickey Mouse love is love sign that I really wish I owned, another plant, and my jar of wands from Harry Potter themed birthday parties. Last, but not least, there are two musical quotes: Awesome! Wow! And: I’d rather be me!

And that’s the reason behind everything on my header. So, on to the site icon!

Just my logo from above, but without the headphones! (The pan flag’s colors are out of order…)

I hope you guys enjoy. Leave a comment below, I’d love to talk to you! Remember, look to the stars. Aim. Ignite!

First draft book tag!

Hello nerds, geeks, and dorks. Elle here. Yes, I’m doing another tag. But, this time, I was actually tagged by MADELINE! She’s awesome. This is actually one of her original tags!

RULES:

  • Credit the creator of the tag (The Bookish Mutant)
  • You can use her graphics (which I’m doing)
  • Answer the questions to the best of your ability
  • Tag as many people as you want
  • Have fun, and keep on reading and writing! The world needs your creativity!

I always thought the concept of Rick Riordan’s books were super fun. I love the modern characters mixed with the ancient gods/esses and myths.

Anything nonfiction always takes me forever to read. Historical fiction is fun, though.

(Hahahaha, not me)

Any books with plot twists, that actually surprise me, seems really well thought out, in my opinion.

(there I am!)

I’m just going to say, Magnus Chase. In the first, like, five or six chapters, he died.

Um, I have no clue.

Nate Expectations by Tim Federle! (highly suggest)

I tag…

I hope you guys enjoy! Leave a comment bellow, I’d love to talk to you! Remember, look to the stars. Aim. Ignite!

My five things

Hello nerds, geeks, and dorks. Elle here. I found this tag (I’ve been doing a ton of tags) on Rebecca’s blog. She tagged anyone and I needed some posts, so here we go.

Five things that have been getting me through quarantine

  • Blogging/podcasting- I’ve enjoyed being able to still put my stuff out there and share my voice even during these stupid times.
  • The internet/Technology- I’ve been able to “hang out” with my cousin over FaceTime, put together two podcasts, and listen to a ton of books!
  • Disney+- I can watch as many Disney movies or shows which is great. They’ve also been releasing some movies early because of quarantine.
  • Libby- Because libraries are closed, Libby is one of my most used apps, I get to listen to audio books and read a bunch of books!
  • My mom’s iPad- Procreate is a gift for digital artists. My mom lets me use her iPad to draw stuff for here!

Five blogs to check out

  • I blog– She isn’t lying when she says she blogs a little bit of everything. I only found her today (at the time of writing this), but she’s super cool!
  • Karleen– Her blog is only getting up and running, but she’s the same type of blogger as me, books and art.
  • Beck– I’ve said it before, I’ll say it again, Beck is awesome! She’s one of the first book bloggers I’ve interacted with and inspired me to just be my weird self!
  • Madeline– I’ve mentioned Madeline before too. She’s another book blogger (No wonder I turned into a bit of a book blog, almost all of my favorite blogs are book blogs!) and is really fun.
  • Jaedyn– I met Jaedyn on Camp NaNo earlier. We have most of the same interests (Blogging, theater, writing, and Pinterest) so we bonded and kinda became internet friends.

Five foods I love

  • Chocolate chip cookies! Especially my moms. She makes the best cookies, cakes, tarts. I could keep going!
  • Spaghetti- It was always my favorite growing up (still is). It just has a bunch of good memories.
  • Ice cream- It’s ice cream. You can make a bunch of yummy stuff with it and it’s delicious.
  • PBJ sandwiches- we have these all the time and they’re always super good.
  • Apples- my favorite fruit. I love to chop them up and get a spoonful of peanut butter.

Five places I’d love to visit

  • All the Disney parks- I love Disney, but I’ve only been to Disneyland and Disneyworld and I’d love to see Disneyland Paris.
  • Salt Lake City- What can I say? I love High School Musical and it would be super cool to see East High.
  • New York- I’m quite a theater nerd and it would be AMAZING to go to New York.
  • Greece- I love Greek myths. I’d love to see a bunch of the buildings and statues.
  • Scotland- It would be really epic to see the Highland Games in Scotland. Plus there’s castles.

Five favorite books

  • Lost Hero- Rick Riordan
  • Geekerella- Ashley Poston
  • Better Nate than ever- Tim Federle
  • Drum roll, please!- Lisa Jenn Bigelow
  • The Ship of the Dead- Rick Riordan

So there’s that… I hope you guys enjoy. Leave a comment bellow, I’d love to talk to you! Remember, look to the stars. Aim. Ignite!

Reading habits tag

Hello nerds, geeks, and dorks. Elle here. I’ve noticed that I’ve turned into more of a book blog than an art blog. I mean, I still post my art, but I post more book stuff than art stuff now. Whoops.

I found this tag at A Geek Girl’s Guide. She was tagging everyone, so I decided to give it a try!

Bookmarks or random pieces of paper?

Whatever’s nearby. I have a huge collection of bookmarks, but I forget to use them. Or lose them in the middle of the night and have to find a piece of paper before I lose my spot.

Stop reading randomly or stop after a chapter/certain amount of pages?

After a chapter! Or the whole book…

Certain place at home for reading?

My bed. I do most things on my bed, including school, even though I have a desk.

Eat or drink while eating?

Not usually.

Music or tv while reading?

I love listening to music, but I can’t always focus on the book.

One book at a time or several?

HAHAHAHA

I should read only one but then I start another and another and another.

Reading at home or everywhere?

I can and will read anywhere and everywhere. I bring some form of book with me everywhere.

Reading out loud or silently?

Silently. I do read my sister a story every night, though.

Do you ever read ahead or skip pages?

I try not to, but if I want to get to a specific part (Alex bites my face off) I’ll skip ahead.

Breaking the spine or keeping it like new?

Breaking the spine. It makes the book feel more loved. I remember when my dad got me The Lightning Thief, it was super worn and ripped. I thought that it would be a good book because of that fact. So, worn covers are better because they’ve been read more.

So that happened. I hope you guys enjoy. Leave a comment bellow, I’d love to talk to you! Remember, look to the stars. Aim. Ignite!

Six fan arts COMPLETED!

Hello nerds, geeks, and dorks. Elle here. I finished my first challenge! I’m super proud of these, especially sense I’ve never drawn half of these recently. Or at all.

I hope you guys enjoy. Comment bellow, I’d love to talk to you! Remember, look to the stars. Aim. Ignite!

Hamilton Book Tag (original)

Hello nerds, geeks, and dorks! Elle here. Happy Fourth of July! After trying the Percy Jackson book tag, I had an idea for a Hamilton book tag and wanted to try it.

Before we begin, have you watched Hamilton on Disney+? Comment what you think, your favorite song, and favorite character! I loved it. My favorite song is either Guns and Ships or just Alexander Hamilton! My favorite character is definitely Lafayette.

Rules

  • Thank the person who tagged you and link to their post
  • Link to the original creator
  • Match books with the given prompts
  • Tag anyone you’d like
  • Copy and paste the list of prompts and rules

The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes by Suzanne Collins. My mom walked in with it from work and I was reading it constantly.

My old sketchbooks. My old art looks so terrible, in my opinion.

The Princess and the Fangirl by Ashley Poston. If you haven’t noticed, I love her books.

The Dive trilogy by Gordon Korman. All of his books are so underrated that I’m pretty sure my best friend and I are the whole fandom.

The Percy Jackson series. One of my first fandoms. I can’t remember if Harry Potter was before or after Percy Jackson.

Heroes of Olympus! Not many guns. Unless you count the ballista. But ships? Both the kind that you ride on and the couples are very numerous.

Firestorm by Joan Hiatt Harlow. Only one, but the most plot-pointy spy it could have.

Geekerella! My namesake. Once I read all of my Libby TBR, I know that I’ll reread it.

High school musical the musical the series the novelization. Still waiting. Until I can go to Books a Million, I’ll be waiting for it.

Let’s just say that Imogen and I would be best friends. So I’d say The Princess and the Fangirl, again.

Where the Sidewalk Ends by Shel Silverstein! It has some of my absolute favorite poems. The combination of his hilarious poems and fun, simple drawings makes the book even more amazing.

I always got so sucked into Rick Riordan’s books. I would be reading in bed and before I knew it, it was way to late.

The Ship of the Dead by Rick Riordan! I remember having a bad day and just flipping through the pages until I got to my favorite chapter (37. Alex bites my face off).

I didn’t really want to read A Frozen Heart (book retelling of Frozen) but it was really good! Mainly because you got to see why Hans did what he did.

So there you go! Anyone is free to do this.

I hope you enjoy. Comment bellow. I’d love to talk to you! Remember, look to the stars. Aim. Ignite!
