Gradient maps

Hail and well met nerds, geeks, and dorks! Elle here. Today I’m going to share my experience with one of Procreate’s new features, gradient maps!

At first they confused me a lot. I had no clue what the heck you’re supposed to use these things for. But I eventually figured it out! AH you need to do is make your drawing in black and white then layer the gradient map over it.

So I wanted to share the three pieces I drew this week using gradient maps.

Tag Announcement

Hail and well met nerds, geeks, and dorks. Elle here. Today I wanted to share a few details about a tag I’m working on. And, if you have any ideas, you guys can comment ideas for a title for it because my mind has blanked. Also, this is my 50th post here!

The tag basically is a challenge. To share how fictional characters changed your life. You can create any form of art, writing, drawings, etc. but it must show how they impacted you.

I’m working on an animation for mine and I’m really excited to share it with you!

Would you rather only be able to read blog posts or write blog posts?

Probably only read posts. Mainly because there are so many amazing blogs that inspire me.

What is your favourite hairstyle?

My hair is super short, so I usually just leave it down. (In other hair-related news, I got my hair dyed rainbow)

What is your favourite season?

Fall! I have a few reasons, *clears throat and pulls out a list* Halloween, the weather is so nice, all the trees look so pretty, no one judges me for wearing hoodies, pumpkins, and my birthday is actually in the fall! (plus we usually go to Disney in the fall…)

Do you use paper for your notes/lists/other things or do you use digital methods?

I use a mix of both. I love using actual paper, but sometimes digital is better.

What is your favourite blog to read?

Do you prefer sweet or savory snacks?

Both. At the same time. Seriously though, sweet and savory treats are the best.

What is your favourite snack food?

I love apples, especially with peanut butter.

If you could only drink one beverage for the rest of your life, what would it be?

You know what? I’m going to be boring and say water. (You said nothing about flavored water)

I’m pretty sure I write almost all the posts I think of…

Do you like board games? If so, what is your favourite?

I love board games! I love playing Villainous, but if (and hopefully when) Disney makes The Choosical, I will somehow own it. Bet on it.

What is one random thing that makes you happy?

Card tricks! At the time of writing this, I started learning some because I watched Magic Camp on Disney+ and have become obsessed with magic, again.

Yet another announcement + sneak peek at new art print series

I’m going to try every week and see how that works. But my family and I started school again, so I haven’t had as much sitting around doing nothing time.

Announcement + old speedpaint

Hail and well met nerds, geeks, and dorks. Elle here. Today I have a slightly sad announcement. The Elements is not going to be a comic anymore. Because I’m going into high school and have multiple other projects, I will be writing this just as a book. I still plan to illustrate some pages in the book, but it will not be a full comic.

Sadly I don’t have any new content for you guys, so I have the speedpaint from my HSMTMTS dnd art thingy with the shading.
